Composite Fillings, commonly known as "White Fillings" are designed to match the colour of your teeth, which is a huge advantage as today we are all much more conscious of our smile.
Originally when introduced in the 1960's Composite Fillings could only be placed on front teeth due to their softer nature, however with modern improvements to their composition, they can now be placed on most tooth surfaces.
Composite Fillings must be placed under dry conditions, following preparation, your Dentist will place the Composite, sometimes using a layering technique, Composite Fillings are then set using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, your Dentist will shape the Composite to fit the tooth.
It is not always possible to use composite as a chosen filling material, your Dentist will advise you on the filling material which is most suitable to your needs.
