Preventative Dentistry » Oral Health Education

At St Paul's Dental Practice, we are committed to helping every patient achieve a healthy mouth and a smile that they are happy with, whatever their age. Your dental and Hygienist appointments are just one part of a good oral health routine; a good home care regime is essential, too. Many people are unsure exactly how to care for their teeth and gums, and because every patient is individual we believe every patient should have individual advice. That's why we have oral health educators, who can give a wide range of advice on how best to look after your mouth.

Our oral health educators are qualified dental nurses who have completed a post-graduate training certificate and will provide advice and education on all aspects of good dental health, including:

  • Good habits for all the family.
  • Preventing tooth decay.
  • Healthy diet.
  • Brushing technique.
  • Using inter-dental brushes or floss.
  • Other oral healthcare products.
  • Reducing harmful behaviour.

Your appointment with our oral health educator will be on a one-to-one basis, and you can ask any questions you may have about how best to look after your mouth. All the information will be presented in an age-appropriate way, tailored to your individual needs. These appointments benefit both children and adults – anyone who wants advice about their oral health.

We stock a wide range of dental care products including toothbrushes and inter-dental brushes (for cleaning between the teeth). Because everyone's oral healthcare needs are different, our Dentists and Hygienists will take the time to recommend exactly the products you need to maintain the best oral health regime at home, meaning your teeth and gums are kept in the best possible condition.
